I had the absolute pleasure of reading the entirety of “Nymue Rising” at Saturday Night Arts at Maspeth Town Hall, curated by Selma Trevino, alongside percussion musician Nathaniel Aguilar.
Selma has always been dedicated to cultivating the arts locally, starting with hosting art nights in her yoga/martial arts studio pre-pandemic. Saturday Night Arts is a new program Selma created as a showcase for local artists of all kinds — painters, sculptors. writers, dancers, musicians. Maspeth Town Hall is the perfect community space to host such an event.

I loved reading my work aloud, but what I loved even more is the emotional discussion it evoked afterwards — about making space for creativity in our lives because art can heal.
Having a community of like-minded people who understand and appreciate what creativity can do for us, and who want to bring more art into the world, is vital. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of this night!
